As part of its vision for a healthier community, CRMC is also posing a challenge for youth age 17 and younger to get them more active and develop life-long fitness habits. The goal of the challenge is to decrease the percentage of students who describe themselves as overweight/obese by increasing their physical activity. The health challenge is based on exercising a collective number of miles to reach a community goal.
Named March the Mississippi, youth will walk, hike or run along the Mississippi River State Water Trail from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico and back, a total of 4,700 miles.
